On most tours, the only interaction between members of different bands takes place backstage. It’s a shame: during Aerosmith’s summer tour, who wouldn’t want to see Steven Tyler sing Paradise City with opener Slash? But luckily, this so-called ‘Soundtrack Of Summer’ package is happy to prove there’s truly strength in numbers.

It’s a smart bill that covers several stripes of 70s rock: a California singer-songwriter, anthemic FM-radio AOR and comparatively ambitious art rock. Once disparate, time has proven that these are in fact complementary colours along the same sonic spectrum.
